For travelers discovering Big Bend, we affectionately refer to this journey as “Big Bend 101.” This comprehensive, day-long excursion delves into the accessible wonders of Big Bend National Park, offering our guests a seasoned, local perspective of the rich natural and historical tapestry of the Chihuahuan Desert. Venturing primarily along the captivating Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive, our tour unfolds with frequent stops, allowing our knowledgeable guides to unveil the captivating chapters of Big Bend’s storybook landscape.

Price

$175 per person, plus taxes and fees

Full deposit is required at the time of booking. Our cancellation policy is as follows: Full refund- cancellations made within 48 hours of booking minus a $25 cancellation fee. 50% refund- cancellations made after 48 hours of booking and at least 8 days prior to trip date, minus a $25 cancellation fee.

No refund- cancellations made within 7 days of trip.

*Our lunches vary based on current supplies, but expect a smorgasbord of picnic foods such as deli meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, dips, chips, pickles, and cookies. Iced water will be available during the trip with tea and lemonade available at lunch. Because of our remote location, specialty foods are more difficult to obtain. Should you have a specific dietary requirement, please notify our office at least 48 hours prior to the departure date.

About the vehicle

For this tour, we’ll use Jeep YJ Wranglers that have been specially designed for Far Flung. These “safari-style” vehicles have covered tops to protect against the sun and open sides for great viewing and picture taking.

Rainfall averages 10-12 inches per year, with the majority of rainfall during the months of July – September.

Because the trip will take us through primitive areas of Big Bend, bathroom facilities are limited. Your choice of restroom will be bushes or large rocks! You will have access to the Far Flung Outdoor Center restrooms before and after the trip.

Many guests ask us whether tipping the guides is appropriate. If you believe the guide exceeded your service expectations, please feel free to leave a tip. They will certainly appreciate it 😊

It is rare that FFOC will cancel a trip, but in the event we do, all money (including deposits) will be refunded.

Trip participants must understand and appreciate that riding in an off-road vehicle involves some risk. These risks include, but are not limited to:

  1. Forces of nature, including extreme heat, cold, hail, rain, and lightning
  2. Possible roll-over or loss of control of a Jeep driven by others related to excessive speed, rough, steep, or narrow trails and collisions with other vehicles, boulders, vegetation, wild animals, livestock, or other man-made or natural objects
  3. Accident or illness without access to immediate evacuation or availability of medical supplies and the inadequacy of medical attention once provided

All participants will be required to sign a waiver before partaking in any Far Flung activity and must agree to abide by all rules related to off-road safety as outlined by Far Flung Outdoor Center and/or its guide staff.
